Goal #8 Complete!

I've officially completed one of my goals! Goal # 8 Start working at The Actor's Gang again, is complete!

I'm actually going to give this an official completion date of 07/06/09, because that is the day I got fully into the rehearsal process. For those that do not know, I was previously a stage manager for The Actor's Gang, which is Tim Robbin's theatre company in Culver City. Shortly before my senior year of college, I had to leave the company to finish my obligations at USC. I graduated college, and then life happened so I just hadn't gone back. I went to see lots of productions in the meantime, I just had not stage managed again. The Actor's Gang is a great group of people and the theatre and productions have such a great energy, I really enjoyed working there. I didn't really have a good reason for not coming back, I suppose I just needed a stage managing break.

Once I got out of my stage managing blahs, I decided that I would actively pursue stage managing at The Gang again. Shortly after I wrote it down in my list, I went to go see their production of Our Town with some co workers. After the show, there were some people there that remembered me and just like that, I was asked to come back. About 3 weeks later, I got an email asking me to stage manage their summer in the park production of Cymbeline The Puppet King, and the rest they say is history. It's been great being back in the space and rehearsing with everyone. Our official opening was on Saturday and it's been pretty hectic. The opening weekend went very well.

It's amazing how after I wrote down my list, little things are starting to happen that are allowing me to work towards completing my life goals. I don't know if it's all in my head or if my writing down of my goals is somehow facilitating what I want subconsciously. It's a mystery and a journey and I love it!

P.S. I totally missed an opportunity to sign my name in wet cement aka Goal #76 . They were pouring cement at the back of The Actor's Gang and I got there too late. Boo! Oh well, next time.

Progress is in the eye of the beholder

I've been making progress on a few of my goals, but nothing to put down on paper or take pictures of. I've actually completed one of my goals already!!! However, the stage manager inside me wants to wait to blog about it until I am able to take pictures of said accomplishment, something I hope to do this weekend.

To think, one week in and I've already completed a goal. When you think about it, 100 things to do is not very much. However when you look at the complexity of a few of them, the list magically becomes daunting. Quite a few of my goals involve me traveling quite a bit. The way I see it, if I plan my trips in just the right way, I can cross off several things on the list in one trip. I've already started thinking about these future trips. I have some adventures in store for me!

My first inkling when I started this blog was to make it funny. So many of my friends have blogs that are funny/amusing/comical etc, however, writing has never been a forte of mine. I seem to write the way I talk, with a few minor adjustments. I will leave the funny business to my friends, but I digress.

One goal that I've been working towards is baking a cake from scratch. Naturally, it would be a chocolate cake, since that's my favorite kind, but I don't want the recipe to be too easy, but I'm also not looking to be Emeril Lagasse. I mean, his recipes are great, but if you ever watched his show, they are QUITE involved. I can just see myself with a recipe AND dictionary in the kitchen, having to look up every other word so that I make the cake correctly. Geesh. Anyway, I've been looking at a couple different recipes, but haven't found one yet that pops out at me. Hopefully I'll find one soon!!! Any ideas?

The Infamous List...

So while I was reading the book, I was constantly writing down ideas for things to add to my list. However, the entire list took me quite some time. After going over the list multiple times, it is finally complete.

Within the book, there are "guidelines" for writing your goals. According to the book, each of your goals must have/be the following things:

1. Goals need to be specific and measurable. Instead of saying "Lose weight" you say "Lose 5 pounds"

2. Goals are challening and exciting. They do not create avoidance issues.

3. Goals are value driven.

4. Most importantly, your goals need to be written down. Hence, the blog.

That is a very basic rundown of the entire book. My list makes sense to me. If you read it and you are confused by something, look it up. If a goal seems cryptic to you, that's because I intentionally wrote it that way. Alright, Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you "My List" (In no specific order)
